The Major School Terry Fox Run

The Major School Terry Fox Run The 2013 Major School Terry Fox Run was amazing! This year the grade 4-6 class organized it. There was a huge, awesome pep rally, there was a video, a letter, a speech, even a Terry dance. The organizers of this pep rally were, Kylar Bazylinski, Julie Patton, Breanne Zunti, Quinn Zunti, and Emily Henderson. All of these students worked so hard to make this pep rally great. All of the kids practiced for two days to get ready. Three of the students made the Terry Dance, and they had a video of it on the school website. They explained to us how to do it at the pep rally. The students were awesome at what they were doing. They knew what to do, and where to go. It was amazing! Also at the end of the pep rally while all of the excited people were leaving, you could feel the excitement in the air that all of5 the people shared. The pep rally wasn’t the only thing happening. They had snacks at the school, and also there was a map to sign. The map even showed where Terry actually ran. At the snack station there was oranges, grapes, cookies, doughnuts, and all kinds of foods. They also had movies about Terry playing in some of the classrooms. There was also a water station halfway along the run, at first there were no cups! All the passing people had to squirt water into their mouth. The whole run was 6.5 km. I, personally, only ran halfway but it was still pretty tiring, you could feel the sweat dripping down your face, onto your shoulders, then down to your chest. Some of the kids and parents ran or walked the whole way. When people got back they looked tired, hot, and thirsty. You could see the sweat on their own faces. Some of the students stayed back to help with snacks, directing people to the right classrooms, telling them to sign the map, and making sure there were enough snacks for everyone. All of the snacks looked so good and you could almost taste them. Those students who helped were Emily Henderson and Julie Patton. These two girls worked really hard and were the first ones back at the school, but after all, none of this wouldhave been possible without the help of Ms. Reichert, the grade 4-6 ELA teacher, who is so proud of how the whole run turned out. Values

I value Trustworthy in a friend.Trustworthy means if I tell a friend something then I know that they aren't going tell anybody else.I value this because I might tell a friend a secret and I don't want them to tell any body else. I also value honesty in a friend. Honesty means that you don't lie to people. I value honesty in a friend because of I have a really close friend and something happened to them I want them to telll me about it. I vlaue a friend to be apologetic. Apologetic means if a friend does something bad to you then they say sorry. I value this because sometimes they can tell someone to go don't lipunch you because theyke you and then you want them to apoligize after what they did. In myself I value a positive additude. A positive additude means you don't say stuff like Uhhh or do I have to. I vlaue this because I want people to asks me to do stuff for them because if you do nice stuff to them then they will do nice stuff for you. I want people to think of me as thoughtful. Thoughtful means if your friend lost something thats important to them if you say that it's no big deal theyyour friend won't want to be your friend. I also value myself to be helpful. Helpful means that if someone neeeds help that you will go and help them instead of sitting on your but intead of being lazy. I value this becuase I want people to think of me as helpful because some people might need help with moving stuff and I have nothing better to do I can help them.

4-H Beef

Being in 4-H is fun but there are some things that are harder to do, like beef. In beef you have to choose between three types of cows, steers( which are boy calves), a heifer( which is a girl) , or a cow calf ( which is a cow and her calf.) Then when you picked what you wanted ( I wanted a cow calf pair and a steer), you have to tie them up in the barn and then comb them. Then when your  calves are calm enough you have to grab them by the extra string on their halter and lead them around. I know it sounds easy but you have to stand beside their shoulder keep their heads up by pushing on the halter. Now you have to pull and they will follow you and you are leading them. Now beef isn't just about leading, combing, and washing, you also have to weigh your calves, I know it sounds like how you weigh yourself just by steping on the little scale and reading the numbers and ta-da your done. When you are going to weigh your calves you have to load them in a stalk trailer take them some wear that has a cow scale weigh them then write down their weights in a note book. Let's say that it is the day before the cattle show, you have to take all the things that your
4-H club is taking to the show set up all your clubs stuff then help roll the carpet out. Now it is finally show day, you have to tie up your animals, load them in a stalk trailer, and drive them to where ever the show is. Now that your at the show you have to unload your animals and lead them to a stall waer your club is set up. Next you have to lead your animals to a shoot where you can wash them. Now that you are all done washing them you have to dry them, I know it sounds easy like taking a towel rubbing them with it like you do after you have a shower. No. You have to lead them into another shoot that  has a blow dryer. It sounds like the kind of blow dryer that you would use on your own hair but it's not. Now that you are done blow drying your animal you have to lead them back to their stall and tie them up properly in their stall. Now it's later and  it's time to show your animals you have to lead them around the show ring, and then at the end of the ring you have to set up your animals. By seting up you animal you have to get your show cane ( a long stick eith a hook like end), and make sure their feet are set up correctly. Now that you are finished that, you have to do the judging, by judging you have to look at the animals and write down which one you think is better looking. That goes for TWO DAYS. On the second day you do the same thing again.

Now you see that beef ist'n as easy as it looks

My Book Review

                          The Rainbow Magic Collection

This book is about fairies of the rainbow colours that get lost in the human world and need help to find their way back to fairyland.

I think this is a book that younger girls should read because it is about fairies.
